Today music artists and fans all around the world take time out to remember the multi-talented Lisa Nicole Lopes, known to many across the world simply as “Left Eye.” 10 years ago on this very day, Left Eye was called upon to be with the angels above.
Though she is no longer physically here, never has that stopped
fans from remembering her throughout the everlasting art that she has left us with to enjoy. A lot of times when I get in the mood to take it back and jam one good time, I cut on some throwback “No Scrubs” and I parade around the house with my Comcast remote up to my mouth, singing my heart out, highly anticipating Left Eye’s rap verse.
“See, if you can’t spatially expand my horizons/Then that leaves you in a class with scrubs/Never rising…”
Or, I’ll cut on everyone’s favorite, “Waterfalls”and try emulate her voice the best way I know how (I’m pretty good at it, too). Then, if I want to hear a little hardcore ish to really bob my head to and make me furiously spit lyrics into my makeshift microphone, I’ll play the “Ladies Night” (remix).
“Unh, never the one/Packing a gun/Got some other raw chicks for that/Lay that a*^ flat…”
What I loved about Left Eye was how versatile she was, ranging from her music to her own personal style. She kept her look sexy, yet funky all at once. Baggy jeans, overalls, half-cut tanktops, I adored it all!
It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years and it is a shame that she had to go so soon; but like we all know, she will never be forgotten!
Rest in Paradise
